Design Training Services

Best case scenario, you’ve mastered your graphic design toolkit after decades of honing your craft, and you are ready to retire, content in the feeling of knowing it all. Congratulations, please step aside and make room for the next generation. We’re hungry and we’ve got a lot to learn.

Okay, now that they’re out of our way, let’s say you’re in that second group that doesn’t quite have it all figured out just yet. Do you know the basics of Photoshop but are afraid to open InDesign? Have you stumbled your way through some projects in InDesign but that one time you opened Illustrator and tried the pen tool…maybe everything you’ve ever known turned out to be a lie? I hate when that happens. Or, maybe you know enough about design software to be dangerous, but you change the topic when people start talking about design theory because you just kinda…make it work and people haven’t caught on that you don’t actually know what you’re doing? Trust me, I’ve been there.

What I can offer you is customized one-on-one help through online meetings and screen sharing.

I’ll meet you wherever you’re at in your design journey, and I’ll try to keep the cringey phrases like “I’ll meet you wherever you’re at in your design journey” to a minimum. I can help you get to the next level in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and I can illuminate how all three integrate seamlessly with each other. I can fill gaps in your design theory knowledge, I can help improve specific projects you’re working on, and I can do all that while keeping the process light-hearted and maybe even enjoyable. I know a bunch of shortcuts (both literal keyboard shortcuts and ways to quickly solve problems) that I’ve found through my dozen-plus years of experience as a professional graphic designer, and I get really excited when I have the opportunity to share what I know.

Anyone who knows anything about graphic design will tell you there’s always more to learn. Whether you are part of a marketing team or you are the marketing team, you know the challenges you’re faced with every day. If you have the time to get a degree in graphic design, I highly recommend it! Doing that changed my life and gave me a direction to go in. But if now is not the time to go back to school and you just need some help, do I have some great news for you.

I can help!

When I first started Zoom sessions with Jeff, I had very limited Photoshop skills, and had never used Illustrator or InDesign. After just a few months of infrequent meetings, I’m now able to create ads, concert programs, flyers, website headers, and more!

By working on specific projects with me, Jeff has given me the tools and knowledge to design essentially anything I need to on my own. He gave me tips, tricks, and shortcuts to streamline my work, all the while embracing the idea that there’s more than one way to do things and encouraging me to explore and figure out what works best for me personally.
